Pune has a lot to offer to birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. All the more reason to conserve the wilderness, indigenous trees and plants still standing. This blogspot was begun with the idea of recording only the natural environment of Pune, but now the issues that threaten this environment also find a place here

Mongoose at BMCC
It is considered lucky if you sight a mongoose pair. I think we are lucky even if we manage to spot one of these beautiful, sleek creatures, always alert and active.

The Myna story - raising a family
To continue with my story of the Myna and Parakeets..
The Parakeets released their hold on the nesting hole.
The Mynas seem to have used it fruitfully. As time passed by I could hear 'cheep' 'cheep' emerge from the hole. A harried parent bird would bring food to keep the chicks quiet. One afternoon, I saw what looked like a beak emerging from the hole. Soon a day arrived when the chicks flew away.
A happy ending for this family!
